GR10 week6 hiking and trekking in the Ariege

From Couflens to Plateau la Beille 2024

This sixth GR10 week starts from Seix in the Ariege eand ends at Barage de Riete. This week you stay in the green Ariege where you hike a lot of beautiful stretches. Highlights are the stretch from Ustou to Aulus, the area near the refuge Bassies and the village Aulus les Bains.

Saturday September 7, You arrive in Seix where you spend the night in the auberge based on B&B.
You can fly with Easyjet from London to Toulouse. The price will be around 95 pound for a return. You can also fly with Ryanair from London to Carcassonne for about 154 euro.

Sunday September 8, A taxi will bring you to Couflens where you start your hike. This track is about 4h00, 800 meters difference in altitude and you end in the gite in Bidous where you spend the night based on 1/2 board. On your way to Bidous you can take a swim in the swimming pool in St. Lizier d’Ustou. From here it is only 25 minutes to the gite in Bidous.

Monday September 9, After breakfast you start your “hike of queens”. It is a day of 5h and 900 meters difference in altitude. Very, very beautiful. If is also possible to extend this day with a visit to Cascade dÁrs… This night you spend the night in the gite in Aulus. (1/2 board)

Tuesday September 10, After an early breakfast you start your hike. The track is about 6h and you climb 1400 meters and descend 300 meters. After 2 hours you reach Coumebiere from where it is another 3-4 hours to the refuge. At Col de Bassies you see the refuge and the lakes, from there you only have to go down. You spend the night in the refuge Bassies. (1/2 board)

Wednesday September 11, After your breakfast you can go directly to Mounicou or you can als walk for some hours in the direction of Pic Rouge, it is up to You. The track from the refuge to Mounicou is about 4h and you climb you go down for about 900 meters. You spend the night in the gite of Mounicou based on B&B.

Thursday September 12, Today you go to the very nice gite in Goulier. The track is abour 8h and 600 meters difference in altitude.
There are 2 variants possible. You spend the night in Goulier based on half board.

Friday September 13, Today is a short hike, about 4h40 and 500 meters difference in altitude. You end in Siguer where you spend the night in the new gite based on 1/2 board.

Saturday September 14, Today is a long day. The stretch is about 9 hours and 1400 meters difference in altitude. You start with a transfer to the barage where the hike starts. You spend the night based on 1/2 board.

Sunday September 15, After breakfast you can be transferred to Tarascon.
From Tarascon you can travel to every possible destination.
Easyjet flies from Toulouse to London and Ryanair flies from Carcassonne to London.

General

There are 6 nights based on 1/2 board (breakfast and dinner) and 2 nights includes breakfast.
There are 7 days where you need a packed meal. When you arrive at the accommodation you can order a packed meal for the next day.
