GR10 week8 hiking in the Pyrenees Orientales

From Py to Banyuls sur Mer 2024

The last GR10 week starts from Py in the Pyrenees Orientales and ends in Banyuls sus Mer where you finish your GR10 adventure. Also this last week there are a lot of beautiful stretches with the Canigu as highest peak from the GR10. Highlights are the hikes near the Canigou and of course the moment that you can see the Mediterranean see. Of course the entrance in Banyuls sur Mer is an emotional moment….

Saturday September 21 you arrive in Py where you spend the night in a gite based on 1/2 board.
You can fly with Ryanair from London to Carcassonne.
You can also fly with Ryanair from London to Perpignan.

Sunday September 22, after breakfast you start your hike. It is about 5h45, and 700 meters difference of altitude. You spend the night in a refuge (half board).

Monday September 23, after your breakfast in Marialles you start your hike. The stretch is about 6 hours and 700 meters difference of altitude. You spend the night in another refuge (half board).

Tuesday September 24, Today you go Arles where you spend the night in a hotel based on B&B. The stretch is about 7 hours and you end with a descend of 1500 meters. (if the hotel is open)

Wednesday September 25, after Breakfast a taxi will bring you to Montalba d’Amelie. From there you walk back to Arles. The stretch is about 6 hours and you go through the woods. You spend the night in the same hotel.

Thursday September 26, probably the same taxi will bring you to Montalba from where you walk to Las Illas. the hike of today is about 6 hours and 700 meter difference in altitude. You end in a hotel where you spend the night based on half board. (if the hostel is open)

Friday September 27, You start your hike after your breakfast. This day is about 7 hours with 900 meters difference in altitude. You spend the night in the gite of Ouillat. (half board)

Saturday September 28, The last hike of the week and of the whole GR10! This day is an easy one, about 7 hours. The whole day you have a great view on the Mediterranean See. Once you have arrived in Banyuls you can take a very large beer on one of the many terraces here. If you have done the whole GR10 with the Bergtoppers you will get a very nice reward. You spend the night in a hotel based on Bed and Breakfast.

Sunday September 29 After breakfast a taxi can bring you to Prades or Perpignan.
Ryanair flies from Carcassonne to London.
Ryanair flies from Perpignan to London.

General

There are 6 nights based on 1/2 board (breakfast and dinner) and 2 nights inludes breakfast.There are 7 days where you need a packed meal.
